Thanks to everyone at Victory for the warm welcome my family has received! There is no DOUBT to me that Christ is alive and well in this church. We have been greeted with love, not HARSH JUDGEMENT, and we had no FEAR about coming into this church, for we knew we would be accepted with open arms. Tonight, as we drove through Cardinal Circle, I thought of Hurricane Katrina and our experience with the refugee families that lived in that subdivision. Bryan and I went to New Orleans thinking we would give of ourselves for a weekend and return to our normal lives on Monday. Did God have other plans for us!!!! Through that experience, I learned to break through prejudices I never knew I had, about race, social status, and education, to name a few. As God showed us people who were suffering, we opened our home and heart to people I would have been afraid of the day before! It wasn't until we were driving through that subdivision today that I saw how prejudice I was and how God had worked in my life through that experience! Thank you Lord for opening my eyes, I am sorry it took such a circumstance for it to happen. God's beauty is never more obvious to me than when I see a child, when you look into their eyes, you get a glimpse of God. Children come into this world with no prejudices, but learn them through the adults who teach them. May God use us as Christians to break through the wall of prejudice and see people as they really are, God's children, all weak, all sinners, all in need of His mercy. Genesis 1:27

I really appriciated the words of our Pastor. John is the man to handel this topic because he treats everyone the way Christ would. Thanks John for a great devotional and a great example. He said last night if we have a prejudice mind truth cannot penetrate. I thought that was awesome. I know I must treat every student with love and respect. Thanks everyone for attending last night. they keep getting better and better. Don't forget to join us for the last trip Saturday 5:30 for food and 6:00pm for the final route. It should be awesome. "Open your hearts to truth and you open your hearts to people." Seea tonight! Bill

John did a great job leading us. I know that at times I can be prejudice toward others. I see that while working with the public on a daily basis. You encounter all walks of life. May we always be a church with open arms for all. Loving this week and learning so much.

I thought it was cool how John gave us scriptures and examples to write down instead of just talking. It really helped me understand more. John 1:46 is a really good example of how you can be prejudice towards much more than people. ---------- Russell

Thanks John for an awesome lesson. The definitions and extra Scriptures helped me understand this "wall" more clearly. I came across this quote from Pearl S. Buck, "Prejudice is a shadow over all of us, and the shadow is darkest over those who feel it least and allow its evil affects to go on." For those of you who do not know, Pearl S. Buck was an amazing Christian woman who spent her entire life trying to put an end to the injustice of prejudice (particularly in children) in the United States and across the world. I was so blessed by her story. [Read it at www.psb.org] May we as Christians start today and make every effort to eliminate all areas of prejudice in our home, school, community and especially within our church.
